Will a heavy graphics card damage my motherboard over time?

I just received my 7970 DirectCU II, and it's a really heavy triple-slot card. I have a P8P67 PRO motherboard, and I do not have any of those graphics card brackets/supporters that come with some cases. Is it okay to simply plug the card into my motherboard and screw it into the case like I would a regular dual-slot card, or will such a heavy component damage my motherboard when combined with a fairly large CPU cooler? I'm just being paranoid, hopefully nothing will go wrong :P

Well, the screw would hold it together, but if you are really paranoid, put supports under it?

Not the motherboard, but it's possible to warp the PCB of the card, especially around the PCIe interface.

Not the board itself, definitely the card PCB, but it can damage the PCIe slots, usually nothing major though.

The card has a backplate, so will everything be fine?

I personally don't trust it, so I ghetto support mines.

Unfortunately I don't have anything of the sort... for some reason none of the reviews have mentioned any problems so I hope everything turns out alright
