ASUS' GPUs are awesome, they do take quite a bit of space though, if it's an issue the Vapor-X might be a better option.

Asus DirectCU for sure. It's the top dog for nonreference coolers.

i say go with the best looking in your opinion

Honestly most aftermarket GPU coolers perform within a couple degrees of each other.

Well the question is more of a general nature, for all of us, the potential buyers :) but as far as I'm concerned DCU II is about 2cm wider and longer than my MSI 7950...so I think I will have space...

I assume that R9 290 will be in GTX 780 price range so it will be pretty expensive and then R9 280X is the best choice I guess...

I gave ASUS the vote for this one, but usually I'd go with Sapphires Vapor-X. The Yellow/Orange on the new Vapor-X cards....umm...I'll pass.

ASUS's triple-slot cooling isn't compatible with all motherboard PCI-E layouts (i.e like my Crosshair V Formula) so it would be a pain if you plan to run 2 or 3 way Crossfire.
