Post your Cinebench R20+15+R11.5+2003 Scores **Don't Read The OP PLZ**

So I am thinking ill pick 4.6ghz and try and get that stable at the lowest voltages possible.

Whats the deal with VCCIN (vrin on my board) - its 1.8v at stock but I saw a post relating to devils canyon chips that it can be just a little above vcore and not impact stability?

Can the 5820k do this? my mobo suggests in its all-knowing tool-tips that this setting should be at least 0.4v above vcore.

It seems to vary from cpu to cpu. But the reason I'm led to believe is that because Devils Canyon chips have 2 sets of FIVR instead of one, as well as improved power delivery, they don't need as much vccin.

I was passing cinebench at 1.45 vccin, 1.33v core, 1.2v cache. Cpu was at 5 Ghz core and 4.7 cache.

But I tried to run xtu benchmark (loads more power hungry) and needed 1.75 vccin for that.

Yes, unlock multipler are better cause you don't have to touch the FSB. IMO Intel won't let me oc via multiplier? Fine I'll just do the back door way of oc via FSB and still get my cpu beyond stock clocks. QX series, yes them Core 2 Quad Extreme Editions. never knew they have unlock multiplier.

I still need a $60.00 unlocked gulftown. i killed the last one :\

No the 5820k can DEFINITIVELY NOT DO THIS. In fact, as a general rule VCCIN should be set at least .6 higher than Vcore, and even then it is possible to have Vccin limit stability at 1.9V when Vcore is only 1.2V.

ok, perhaps that is where my instability is coming from. I am running vcore @ 1.32v at 4.7ghz and getting Linx pass errors with Vccin @ 1.8v (auto)

I am passing XTU 5 min stability test and can run cinebench at least 3 times back to back...

How large an incriment do you suggest increasing this by per time? go straight to 1.92v?

If you have an AIO/watercooling I'd recommend doing straight to 1.98. That said, it isn't super likely 1.32 @ 4.7 is stable anyways.

running a h110i gtx - Linx gets the temps to 95 deg... toasty. XTU is more like 85 deg

I was running 4.5ghz @ 1.25v daily - no stability issues at all. I was hoping the volt wall wouldn't be so.... steep.

I will try going right to 1.98 tonight.

I havnt clocked cahce - should I leave the rest of the voltages on auto?

edit: I have passed 3dmark firestrike a few times at 4.8ghz on 1.32v :-P

What fans are you using?

I hit literally 70C max at 4.7 1.4V XTU full load.

At 4.5 1.25V with my high speed setup im looking at mid 50s, and with my low speed current setup high 50s low 60s.

Yea go ahead and leave all other voltages on auto, just set cache to 40 and call it a day.

something is up.

I was able to cool 1.49v when benching XTU with my AIO on my 5820k.

right now I have dialed it back to 4.5ghz with 1.27v core and 1.88v vrin - XTU is peaking at 77 degrees in a 5 min run

Well it can't be any worse.

I just whacked it on 1.325V and its been solid as a rock under XTU for 30 min.

Sadly I need to leave in 15 mins for college so that sucks :(

Edit: quick bench. Looks like a good chip.

I literally stumbled across this last night - I agree, totally amazing article - I was blown away by the soldering pros/cons and just the level of engineering involved is intense...

If CPU's continue to become a smaller and smaller center of more intense heat generation then soldering will become less and less practical with current techniques.

Makes my epeen larger knowing the 5820k is soldered :-3

I havnt tried setFSB - I just used the stickytape mod to set FSB to 400mhz.

there is some random post on the net somewhere confriming the settings for the T7400 though.
