This is a video I've been meaning to make for a long time. Mostly because I've been meaning to upgrade Edzel's video editing station for a long time. The problem for him was a couple of things.

I'm going to list out the components as well as suggested replacements if you were to want to try to build something similar to this and pick things that aren't ridiculous. I'll also provide a source or two for where you can get them  :)

I can't force you to buy this stuff at any my preferred stores, but if you care, I do lean towards a couple of different places. I've linked to NCIX for the Canadians (and International viewers if their pricing and shipping costs work out for you) because they're my bros, and for Americans the Amazon links below are affiliate links, and every little bit helps  :)

CORE COMPONENTS

CPU: Intel 3960X "Sandy Bridge E" Unlocked Processor - Suggested replacement: 4930K

SSD: Crucial M4 128GB - Suggested replacement: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB

Motherboard: ASUS Rampage IV Gene
Case: Silverstone Sugo SG01 - Note that the links below are a newer SIMILAR model, not exactly the same case
Video Card #1: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 - We're using it for its CUDA capabilities and of course Kepler has that awesome onboard H.264 encoder

Amazonhttp://amzn.to/16aLUT4

Video Card #2: NVIDIA Quadro 4000 - Suggested replacement: K4000. Get that instead. It's better in every way.
NCIX: N/A

Network Card: Emulex OCE11101-NX - For most people this... really won't be relevant. It's a 10Gbit network card, so unless you have the infrastructure for it...
Amazon: N/A

Storage Drive: WD Velociraptor 1TB - Suggested replacement: Honestly unless you're working over the network like we do, get something with more capacity like a Black

RAM: Kingston Value RAM 8GB Sticks - Suggested replacement: I can't find the exact SKU anymore so here's some other similar one.
NCIX: http://bit.ly/1a5EPR1
Power Supply: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 550W - This was a borderline choice, and the 850W would be required if you're going to overclock.

Cooling Components

I used generic fans for the exhaust, and a stock heatsink for the CPU (need to replace that) so I'll go with my de-facto fan recommendations here:

CPU Heatsink

"Ghetto Build Log", still has more power than Linus's personal rig, which hasn't been updated in 6 months.  :P

Also, don't you mean H.265?

How did you put both a Quadro card and a GeForce card on the same Motherboard? Won't the drivers clash? Also like can he game on his system using the GeForce card?

The SG01! I love that case! My only problem with this case is there is no 120mm fan mount, that i can't mount a 120mm radiator on it.

btw, do u guys think i could achieve optimum temperature in this case with 4770k and Thermaltake Bigwater 760 Pro? thx~~

liking the build

but I wouldve went with a coolermaster elite 361 for a portable workstation rig.

It fits full atx boards(8 rams slot ftw), has 1 5.25 drive bay, fits about 5in of cpu cooler.

and is 26 liters big. (while the sg01 is 22.3 liters.)

and it s really inexpensive. (it s ugly but who cares, it s a workstation...)

idk if the fact it s more of a tower instead of a cube could be a problem for plane travel...

ATX Portable rig (smaller than prodigy(LOL)) :  Antec 4000e | Gigabyte Z77x-ud3h  | Corsair HX1000 | Hyper 212 | i5 3570K  |  XFX 6950 AC accelero (going in the htpc soon) |MSI 6950 AC accelero | Corsair Vengeance 32GB LP 1600MHz | Antec true quiet 500 rpm fan x5 |

loudest htpc ever : Bitfenix Shinobi | Asrock 970 | Corsair TX750 | Stock cooler | FX-6300  | hd5450 (or something just as bad)  | Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz | Cougar fans x8 | 25ft hdmi cable to put it in another room

This right would be a nice opportunity to test out some low profile coolers. How much height do you have in between there?
