Windows 7 microphone auto adjust

calarahil

So, I have an issue with my microphone I have a blue yeti and for whatever reason it will default to 100% microphone volume. And the microphone is much to powerful at that volume. I wanted to know if perhaps their was a script out their that I could place as a registry key or if I could edit a config file or something to bring down my default volume to something like 20%. When I play dota it goes to 100 percent I've gone through and changed that to 20% still goes to 100%, I changed skype to lay off mic volume still at 100%. I'm just not sure where to go from here but its fairly frustrating.

Have you tried adjusting it on the Yeti itself? I know that it has a gain controller that you should be able to manually control.

I have the gain almost completely turned off. I also, have the microphone volume nob at the front of the mic down to around 25 percent.

Try going to control panel>hardware and sound>sound>recording tab>right click the microphone>properties>levels tab and change the volume manually. Also disable any automated volume controls in-game

I'll have to double check on DOTA 2's microphone controls. I haven't changed the volume controls in game for a while.

Furthermore when I go into record volume settings and manually set it to 20% upon restart of my computer or through opening a program it'll move itself to 100% making people angry at me for making their ears bleed as I talk in dota 2.

Yea when you go to recording levels I set it to 20% down from 100% and it somehow makes its way back up to 100% within windows. Which is why i was trying to see if their wasn't a script or key I could place into the registry to lock it at 20%.

I can confirm that despite what I set the audio settings to, they jump up to 100 after running the 'setup my microphone' utility.  I am using Windows Vista. I personally have not seen any negative effects from this change- my accuracy seems to be about the same as it was before.
Except that it is recognizing Home and Move when you are not saying anything?

We have figured out Registry edits that peg the audio where trial and error shows it to be optimal for us. Once set, we do not run "Set up my microphone," as this returns the settings to 100%. Not only has accuracy returned to where it was, but no more Home/End/Move interpretations that send the cursor all over the place.

Here are the Registry hacks:

I modified the SNR key (hit the decimal radio button) to 32. The Volume key (decimal again) was set to 3333 (33%). These seem to work well with my home office setup (a Samson Q7 and Andrea USB pod), my Toshiba Satellite notebook (Sennheiser ME3/Andrea USB pod) and my business office (Sennheiser MD431II/Andrea USB pod). Remember, once you reset the SNR and volume, do not run the setup my microphone audio setup wizard. If you do, it will set the volume back to 100%. Also, do not forget to reboot your computer for the settings to take hold. Finally, of course you are going to make a registry backup before playing around?

SNR setting:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Speech\RecoProfiles\Tokens\{95CF724E-B3B5-4D94-A4FB-36AE77A88FE0}\{DAC9F469-0C67-4643-9258-87EC128C5941}\SNR

Volume settng:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Speech\RecoProfiles\Tokens\{95CF724E-B3B5-4D94-A4FB-36AE77A88FE0}\{DAC9F469-0C67-4643-9258-87EC128C5941}\Volume

Within Windows?

Figured it out stupid valve and dota2. So what I had to do was go to the cfg folder and create a file with the code

Here's a step by step instruction what to do: FROM http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=32769

  1. Open notepad (press "Windows Key + R" and type "notepad" without the "" and hit Enter)
  2. copy this line to the editor:
    Code:
    voice_mixer_volume "x.xx"
and change the "x.xx" to e.g. "0.51" if you want your mic level to be 50%
  3. Hit "Ctrl + S" to save the file.
  4. Navigate to your Steam installation folder (commonly "C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\") and browse to "SteamApps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg\"
  5. Make sure the "Save as type" dropdown menu below the "File name" says "All Files (*.*)" otherwise notepad will save this file as a .txt
  6. Save your file with the name "autoexec.cfg" (of course without the "")
  7. Restart Dota II and check your mic level.

I hope this helps. smile.png

And I hope my english is not too bad and my instructions are clear.

Okay, I had the same problem with Realtek audio drivers and fixed it this way.

I'm using Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 with Zalman z3+ tower

Do this:

1. Reinstall audio drivers to full

2. Restart

3. go to realtek site
download mathcing audio driver

IMPORTANT: DOWNLOAD THE MATCHING AUDIO DRIVERS FOR WINDOWS U HAVE

the blue bolded drivers no. 1 for 32-bit and no. 2 for 64, it should fix the problem automatically.

4. furthermore, when u install, go in realtek manager and click on the Folder icon on top right and disable front jack panel detection

It should work ,let me know if it helped.

Kind Regards,
