Intel Demonstrates Haswell-E CPU With DDR4 Memory On X99 Chipset Based Motherboard

In IDF, Intel demonstrated Haswell-E and DDR4 on a x99 chipset platform. VR-Zone managed to get a good shot of this demo machine.

So does that mean Haswell-E is coming out soon. Or is Intel going to hold it for a year as AMD has nothing to compete against.

So DDR-4 is going to start at 2133 MHz. What will the CAS latency be??? So far it sounds like DDR-4 wont be that much better than some high-end DDR3 DIMMS.

Nice to see it in a system but a shame we won't see this for sale for at least another year, even though Haswell-E could be ready pretty soon.

I have to say right of the bat, that is one ugly case.

Although I must say, this will probably only benefit APUs as having for MHz on system RAM doesn't really improve performance on standard CPUs

At first thought I thought it was oil cooled because of the lighting in the case lol. The images don't really give that much information. Just waiting to see how these prices are compared to DDR3.

Intel has detailed 6-8 cores for their Haswell-E processors that would be equipped with massive 20 MB of L3 smart cache and just like Haswell, would feature an integrated voltage regulator “FVIR” and the flagship part would ship with TDPs around 130 – 140W which is impressive since that’s 10-20W under what we get on the Core i7-3970X which has 6 cores compared to the Haswell-E beast that would feature 8 cores, faster clocks and 20 MB of L3 cache. Intel is aiming for an 55% IPC improvement over quad cores with their flagship Haswell-E processors.

 

Boo....FVIR. But 8 cores, yay!
