New Corsair RM Series PSU?

snowComet

Yes there's a reason. Can't say what it is.

Since we haven't seen the cables yet...

I'm going to guess that the sleeving on this PSU is amazingly beautiful, or is it just the quietness?

Guess it would be a cheaper version of the AX series psu? Hope that this would be manufactured by Seasonic/Flextronics!

EDIT: The QR code website is this: http://www.corsair.com/mobile-rmseries but it currently gives a 404 error.

It's made by Hipro, who's also known as Chicony.

I'm 80% sure that ONE of the reasons may be because the fan turns offwhen the PSU is @ 0-40% load :P

The RM is actually made to replaced the TX rather than the AX and HX. I had speculated as such due to the lower operating temperature that it was tested at and the shorter warranty than the HX, despite the better functionality of the RM. Also, if you check out RealHardTechX, the entire TX line had been discontinued. http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page447.htm

For further verification, a post by George from Corsair at OCN. http://www.overclock.net/t/1426202/tpu-corsair-introduces-the-rm-series-power-supplies/10#post_20787894

Also, this post that hinted that the AX/HX does have plans for upgrades so keep a look out on them: http://www.overclock.net/t/1426202/tpu-corsair-introduces-the-rm-series-power-supplies/20#post_20789385

One last thing, those who are wondering about the OEM of these units, if you look at the RHTX site I had posted, you would see that is manufactured by Channel Well Tech (CWT) for the 450-650w and 1000w, while the 750-850w is Chicony Hipro. I can't verify the accuracy of this personally; however, the Hipro build is indeed based on a different platform as the ones that is supposedly CWT.
