Today LG announced a new 34" 21:9 curved monitor, the 34UC98. From the specifications listed on the press release, it seems it is based on the 34UC97, with a different stand, and w/Freesync.

The 34UC98 is a 34" IPS curved monitor, same as the 34UC97, with a resolution of 3440x1440. According to Japanese media Hermitage Akihabara it still has Thunderbolt 2, HDMI, USB 3 ports, and others. The difference seems to be on the new metallic stand, which is similar to that of 34UC87; and adding Freesync support, although no Freesync supported freq. range was mentioned in LG's press release.

The 34UC98 is priced at KRW(South Korea Won)1,290,000, which is around $1100. LG also mentioned that there will be a 34" flat version, and a 29" version, which is priced at KRW 479,000 (around $410) and KRW 395,000 (around $337). The release date of these 3 monitors were not mentioned in LG's press release.

Why not just lobby Nvidia to start supporting advanced specs of FreeSync so you can have the best of both worlds. Considering they have already shown they can make it work with minimal effort on their eDP connections.

The oot is not that great looking, but awesoem that LG is making a freesync version. I wonder if this monitor will be 75hz just like ACER's ultrawide? It's the exact same panel after all.

It's a shame that it has thunderbotl, as that ads quite a chunk of cost to the product. Then again, seeing the monitor be half priced for not being curved is quite shocking. In tv land the price is usually the same, so why such a huge difference here?

Watching Intel have competition is like watching a headless chicken trying to get out of a mine field

Okay this is perfect.  This is exactly what I could ask for aside from an LG 32" with Freesync.  Hopefully they'll make a 29" at some point which is 3440x1440.  That'd be a great pixel density *_*

No how about 1440p 144Hz OLED with Freesync?

The word we might be looking for is, 'not yet.' I'm pretty sure they can though, but the price to make it into production might be crazy high for it to be profitable, not to mention how small of a market it would be.
