You can buy a Korean monitor off Ebay for under $300. I have a Qnix brand, which is actually a Samsung IPS panel in a different housing. You can even overclock certain ones. Here is a guide I used about korean 1440p monitors:

Ive been using the ASUS PB278q and I must say I love it. 60hz 5ms. i wasnt able to overclock my refresh rate unfortunately which i was relying on until i gathered enought for the pg279q. it has the whole pivot tilt thing goin on ports can be a little hard to reach and the on button menu is kind of a hassle to learn but viewing angles are great (ips) speakers are good enough i guess i dont use them often sinc ei have a headset/separate set of speakers. and i got mine for 400 USD not including taxes

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

You have three brand name choices.  The Asus PB278Q, BenQ GW2765HT, and the Dell Ultrasharp U2715H.  The Asus and BenQ both use Acer's AH-VA, and the Dell uses LG's AH-IPS.

The Korean monitor offbrands are also there, but know that for their lower price, you're taking a risk.  They won't accept returns for dead pixels unless you pony up some extra cash in some cases, and sometimes they just don't do it at all, and the panels are inherently flawed, they're basically B-grade or maybe even A- panels that didn't make the cut for the brand names.  Also the stand you get for those are god awful, no height adjust and a really wonky angling system, and most of them do not have multiple inputs, some of the older ones only have DVI, though some of them now support HDMI, and I know of a one (the QNIX) that has DisplayPort.

They're cheap, but brand-name 1440p 60hz IPS have dropped in price recently, so there has been less reason to get one from the Korean brands.
