worth 27 inch 1440p vs 1080p ?

so i own a 24 inch tn 1080p panel with 2ms response time its the benq gl2460, love the monitor, but i was looking at used monitors and came across a asus pb 278q, which is a 27 inch 1440p ips screen at 5ms response time, its usually around 800$ but the guy is seling it for 350$ i can proba get around 150-180$ for my monitor so is it that much of an upgrade for 350$ minus the money i might make back from my monitor ? 

btw i own a gtx 970

That's a big upgrade and definitely worth the price, you 970 is a little lackluster for 1440p gaming though.

That's a big upgrade and definitely worth the price, you 970 is a little lackluster for 1440p gaming though.

meh it can oc pretty good, but im not planning to go ultra and highest msaa, i mostly have older games the only real demanding games i have are gta and fallout 4

A single 970 may have difficulties running the latest and recent year's AAA titles at ultra settings with >60fps. 1440p is a significant pixel density increase from 1080p at the same size.

Actually the DPI between 1080p 24" (91.79 PPI) and 1440p 27"(108.79 PPI) (and while we're counting also 4k 40" at 110.26 PPI) is almost the same so it would just be like adding 2 inches to your current monitor while looking as crisp.
