Hello everybody,

I have a smal problem with my self build PC.

Recently i build my own pc and everything went well, but there is a slight problem. Sometimes when is push the start button on my case the pc does not start like it should.

Symptoms:

the light behind the start button does not light up, however the light behind the reset button does.

The case fans do not start spinning but the cpu cooler starts spinning at max speed.

There is nothing on the screen (no POST or what so ever)

The only way to solve it is to turn off the power supply and turn it on again and then the computer starts like it should.

This problem occurs like 1/3 of the times and only when the computer is fully turned off, not when it is in sleeping mode.

Is this a problem with my MOBO, with my case or with something completely different?

And does anyone know how to fix it?

My specs:

Corsair carbide 300R

Asus H97 Pro (not the gaming edition)

intel i7-4790K (with stock cooler)

Nvidea gtx 960

Corsair cx500m

16 GB ram

samsung 850 Evo (C:)

WD Blue 1TB (D:)

Before you go tinkering with software, check all your cables are fully plugged in!

Then clear the cmos for your bios and failing that try updating them.

Okay so i tried everything you to said, but today my pc suddenly shut down and i got this bios message.

power supply surges detected during the previous power on

I have an Corsair cx500m power supply and i tought it was a pretty stable power supply.

Could anyting else be the problem?
