Xenoblade Chronicles X requires 22gb of free space for a digital download. Should I just use a SD card?

Get the disc version or plug in an external hard drive, some AAA games on the Wii U need lots of storage space

USB 2.0 is limited to 480 mbit/s which equals to 60mb/s, which is roughly the speed of an older HDD.

 

Doubt it will bottleneck much as per loading screens.

usb 2.0 can handle a 480Mb/s throughput, meaning 60MB/s. 5400rmp hdds (meaning most usb powered external hdds) can usually reach 100MB/s max, and never for a long time or with multiple small files and random reads. Maybe your loading times will be, say, 5% slower than having them in the internal hdd. The maximum throughput of a dvd, for comparison, is about 30MB/s.

So both are about the same? I will probably just buy physical since I have Gamestop credit and if using an external drive doesnt make that big of a difference than I should be fine

Ive never broken a disk in my entire time owning consoles. That dates back all the way to the gamecube days haha
