6100 vs 4170

Im planning to get a simple rig and was wondering what would go better for my 200$ mobo and cpu combo. I was looking for an asus h97m plus and an i3 4170 or an i3 6100 and an msi h170m pro vdh

there is only one problem if not mistaken the i3-4170 is LGA 1150 while the i3-6100 is LGA 1151 thus not making it compatible with the i3-4170. So there is your answer.

Please Quote so i know you have replied. | If we have provided a solution to your problem mark it with answer found.

And also please read the COC and avoid the embarrassment and lecture that will ensue.

@earltaceng123 the 6100 is probably worth it. better performance and better upgrade path.

Go for skylake. It's DDR4. You can upgrade to 6700k anytime in future.

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.
