msi r9 290 4gb gaming edition jutters?

my graphics card has been doing some mighty strange things lately.. it has been giving me great performance but it has been going slow then speeding up like im lagging but i stay at a very consistent 60 fps. help im really confused and games are unplayable with this problem. it only happens to moving objects and it isnt my processor because it happens in a gpu benchmark also 

 

 

my specs are:

gigabyte z97 gaming 7

intel i5 4690k @ 4.3 ghz 1.265~ v

msi radeon r9 290 4g gaming edition oc at 1020mhz

wd blue 1tb

corsair cm 850w bronze +

and tons of cooling (5 120mm fans)(also never gets above 130°

Your CPU is absolutely no match for that powerful GPU and it's not good to play games.

When i tested it at 4.5ghz it was doing that in most modern demanding games, here the video of it:

 

 

CPU pinned, GPU load all over the place, massive stuttering and lag...unplayable...cold hard CPU bottleneck.

Get yourself an i5-4460 or similar and the issue will be gone.

You need to upgrade to at least an i3 and preferably an i5. That CPU is not feeding your powerful GPU fast enough.

so the problem only started when i switched mobo a few weeks back. it had never done that but now on this new mobo it jutters. its not lag because i have had lag and this only happens to movement of anything non physics oriented

ok so now that you have all decided that it was my processor i went to microcenter and bought an i5 4690k and a new psu to drive it a 850w corsair. i still have frame time variance like a mofo and now my pc can entirely lock up. the lockup only happens when there is a video load meaning using gpuz or aida 64 to stress both the cpu and gpu simultaneously. the pc will just stop displaying the monitors will not have signal as if they became unplugged. i have to do a hard reset to get it going again, as in hold the power button for 5 seconds because the reset switch doesnt do anything when it locks up. the pc doesnt appear to be overheating, i have a nzxt sentry 2 fan controller and all of the temperatures read under 130 degrees fahrenheit but when it locks up only the gpu temp drops quite rapidly like down to like 70-80 f which are idle temps in my pc. the thermometers are also placed quite strategically, the cpu is like between the copper heatpipes on the bottom of the cooler and the gpu thermometer is also between the heatpipes and it gives a very accurate readout. ive reseated ram the gpu tested another gpu (a smaller r7 260x) and it still locked up but it didnt give as much frame time variance. im starting to think i have a lemon of a mobo or my gpu died but im at a loss and i really need help. thanks guise

what Corsair PSU? If it's VS/CX/CS then that's the issue

i just bought the thing and it was still happening on my previous psu. i dont think that would be the problem

If the frame counter is 60 but it stutter then probably audio driver or network driver or some driver giving high DPC.

Bad driver and usually audio/network/usb driver problem. You need to run the tool to confirm it.

What window you currently using and does the audio stutter/crackling?

windows 10 and no the audio is fine other than the fact that usually when it locks up it plays a sound clip like the last .2 seconds of audio in a loop until i turn off the pc

It locks up? Unstable OC on you CPU?

Hows the latency result btw?

VS and CX are very poor in terms of stability

i had an oc on my previous cpu the pentium and i reset the bios to get it default and ill give you the results soon on the latency   thanks for your halp

Problems I see:

1. Dual-core + AMD GPU = stutters... (Digital Foundry proved this on Youtube with a i3-4130)

2. CX PSU may be having issues to supply power to your 290...

i have an i5 now but this never happened with the pentium until just recently the psu is a cx 850m bronze the power supply is not the problem and that pentium is amazing. im thinking the mobo is shot i might just replace it

 

 

 

sorry i have had the problem with both catalyst and crimson

i was one of the few dummies that upgraded instantly to crimson but the drivers were so bad they didnt even work so i downgraded back and now im back on crimson

i actually just flashed the bios for the card and it seemed like the guy that had it before me tried to and didnt know about the dual bios switch so he sold it. it is going a lot better now in games like bf4 but it still happens in unigen valley benchmark

bump... i updated my specs and still get this problem not as severe but very noticeable in valley benchmark 1 by unigen and still noticeable in catzilla benchmark from i believe gigabyte. Please help. i filled out a tech support ticket with msi hopefully if its a lemon they will replace it for me.
