1 hard drive split into 2

My new laptop came with one 500 GB hard drive and for some reason when I check the drives it says there are 2 and they are both around 250 GB so how do I merge these back together?

yeah that happened to me with some random Samsung laptop

 

you can go to windows disk management, right click the partition you dont use, and decrease its volume to something silly like 1 gb

 

after you do that go to you C: drive and use the unallocated space you left behind from shrinking the other partition

They are partitioned, I may be mistaken, but I think you will have to wipe them and reinstall windows,

It's called a partition.  Reinstall and correct this in that process
