PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dGsBkL

Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dGsBkL/by_merchant/

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($229.99 @ Micro Center)

CPU Cooler: CRYORIG C1 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler  ($59.99 @ Newegg)

Motherboard: MSI Z170I GAMING PRO AC Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($169.99 @ Amazon)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($89.99 @ Amazon)

Storage: A-Data Premier SP600NS34 256GB M.2-2242 Solid State Drive  ($85.99 @ Amazon)

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($58.65 @ SuperBiiz)

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card  ($319.99 @ B&H)

Case: EVGA Hadron Mini ITX Tower Case w/500W Power Supply  ($144.99 @ Micro Center)

Total: $1159.58

Is the CPU overkill? I won't be over clocking it, so I'm not sure the K variant is worth the price, or if that money would be better invested elsewhere. Trying to keep the total around $1200.

Might want to get the R9 390 instead of the GTX 970, twice the Vram.

If you do not plan to overclock now or later yes, then the 6600k is awaste of money and you should instead opt for a 6500.

If you are not going to oc , just get a 6600.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

You won't be able to fill 8GB with reasonable scenarios before hitting unblayable FPS levels anyway, ... Performance wise the 390 is the better option. Depending on his local prices he shoudl go for it ( ... or not :D )

Which psu does the case come with? Beware of them, most of them are really bad. Also you might change the gpu toa 390, twice the vram and better performance overall

Longboarders/ skaters message me!

Fair enough! Seems to be unanimous on the 390 v 970 debate. I'll switch it up. Any other thoughts?

It's between the Hadron or the Evolv ITX. Was hoping to keep it as compact as possible. It's hard to find and ITX case that's aesthetically appealing without a ton of wasted space.
