Dead motherboard? CMOS Battery? I don't know...NEED HELP!

NPCjesto
Hi everyone,

I own a gigabyte z97mx gaming mobo and out of nowhere the computer does not want to turn on (no fans going on and no lights turning on either). All my components are one week old and everything was working fine until this happened:

1. I turned off my PC and took out my GPU.

2. Added the audio front panel because i left that out because i didn't need it plugged in at the time.

3. Turned on my system and my front audio works now and everything booted up normally.

4. Turned it off to add my GPU. now i try clicking the power button and nothing turns on. i didn't fiddle with any of the cables, just my audio front panel cables.

I was thinking it has to be something near the gpu..maybe the CMOS battery, not sure..?

I took my entire build out of the case and tried to power it and nothing happens.

I checked all my cables, they're all plugged in correctly. check the back I/O of the if it was on (I). checked if psu was plugged in a working wall socket.

and nothing. I been researching for 3 days for a solution and it's been irritating to not get any solution.. PLEASE HELP!

Check if your front panel io is still plugged in. Maybe the power button disconnected from the motherboard. Does motherboard has any lights on. I can see it has dedicated power button. Cmos rarely die. It takes ages for them to discharge, but it is possible as with out the battery the mobo will look as if dead. If you aren't sure just take a multimeter and check the voltage. It should be around 3 volts.

I was thinking i loosen up something near my gpu cause once i reinsert it nothings working. the motherboard doesn't light up when its off. Double checked all of the plugs were in their correct spot

There is nothing to loosen up, only to break off or scratch a copper line on the pcb. Did you check the battery? Can you change to another bios chip? If bios is dead it won't turn on also.

So I found my solution. My 24 pin was faulty. Luckily I had one in had and worked perfectly!

That is really strange. There is nothing for it to break as it it's just a wire. Good for you that you had modular psu.
