Difference Between The Internet Providers? (Xfinity vs AT&T)

it depends on the area in which you live in for example 18mbps is the fastes for my neighborhood howver in other areas its 45mbps 

if i were you go with xfinity. if its faster than at&t for the price it is well worth it. I also get great pings and have never capped out on data

So I currently have at&'s fastest speed available in my area which is 18mpbs and its been great and all and with my separate router Ive been getting download speeds of around 2.5 megabytes per second average on wifi. However Xfinity can provide 75mbps and up to 150mbps for around the same price im paying for at&t. But at the end of the day im super confused about the whole internet situation because I hear the words fiber optic coming from at&t's side and simply faster speeds coming from xfinity im not too familiar with routers, megabits, and terms like that and ive also heard with xfinity the speeds are split among whoever else uses that connection in the neighborhood and that it affects it in some negative manner, So quite frankly i dont know what to believe anymore. So i was wondering if i could get some help to help shift my decision towards xfinity or if the stated speeds wont make a difference at all when it comes to download/upload times. I just want the faster connection of the two if im going to be paying generally the same.

Make sure you get the best performance per dollar and that you have no data bandwidth caps.

They're both evil and would shoot you in the head if it made them more money.

in terms of price the difference is 5 dollars as for bandwith caps i have no idea whereto look for that

Xfinity is faster up to 150 resedential.

att is 45 resedential i tink, dont quote me

yeah its just that i want to know download speeds in megabytes not megabit because i just dont understand for example last night i was downloading a game at an average of 2.4 megabytes per second and i find that pretty fast at least in comparison to my other friends would swithcing to 75mbps actually change the megabyte download speed?

allright then ill take your word for it, is that on wifi or through ethernet cable? im currently using wifi with the antenna provided with my motherboard as i cant exactly run a 200foot cable through my home

ethernet, wifi in my house is fast but very spotty or slow and not spotty.
