I recommend the Blue Yeti. The AT2020 doesn't have nearly as many options as the Blue Yeti does.

at2020 is the best lol

Not for song recording.

The Samson Meteor usually sounds better than the Yeti. Check out comparisons on YouTube. You can also compare with the AT2020.

However, if you're into vocals, I recommend that you get an XLR microphone instead of a USB one not only for value at this price range, but also for purposes of variety and upgradeability. You will need an audio interface, such as the Mackie Blackjack: http://www.amazon.com/Mackie-Onyx-Blackjack-Recording-Interface/dp/B003VZG550/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448871969&sr=8-1&keywords=mackie+blackjack

If you want narrow directionality so that you don't pick up keyboard noise, I recommend a dynamic microphone such as the Monoprice dynamic microphone (which, despite its low price, is a fair competitor to the legendary Shure SM57 and SM58, by the way): http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=115&cp_id=11502&cs_id=1150202&p_id=600020&seq=1&format=2

If you do want a dynamic microphone but don't want to go with Monoprice, the SM57 and SM58 are your best bets. They have a reputation for sounding nice on almost anything.

Dynamic microphones require you to be pretty close to them. If you don't want that, and you don't mind picking up keyboard noise, you should get a large-diaphragm condenser microphone, such as the MXL V67G, which has a pretty flat frequency response due to a decent transformer, and is well-liked as a budget option. Especially since you can mod it to make it better. http://www.amazon.com/MXL-Large-Capsule-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B000JRPYGE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448873055&sr=8-1&keywords=mxl+67g

Canare and Mogami are well-regarded for their XLR cables. Here's what I have, custom at Redco: http://www.redco.com/Custom-Cable.html?orderid=71664&orderitemid=0&orderaccesskey=3edb5801648a3fc3

And then you need a microphone mount. You can get a boom arm, which attaches to a desk or monitor, or a boom stand, which goes on your floor. The Rode PSA1 is one of the most popular boom arms: http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448873365&sr=8-1&keywords=rode+psa1

but since you're on a budget, this seems to have great reviews, too: http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-PMKSH04-Suspension-Microphone-Adjustable/dp/B00VIDJB76/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1448873387&sr=8-9&keywords=boom+arm

If you want a boom stand, this is the one I'm using, and it's great: http://www.amazon.com/Stage-Stands-MS7701B-Tripod-Microphone/dp/B000978D58/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448873349&sr=8-1&keywords=on+stage+boom+stand

Mackie Blackjack ($100) + Canare cable ($20) + Pyle boom arm ($35) = $155 base price without a microphone

$155 + Monoprice dynamic microphone ($15) = $170

$155 + MXL V67G ($90) = $245, which is $10 above your budget.

If you seriously need to stay under that budget and want a condenser microphone, maybe the MCA-SP1 will do: http://www.amazon.com/MCA-SP1-Large-Capsule-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B003VP9VI8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448874601&sr=8-1&keywords=sp1+microphone it's still pretty darn good. It's an MXL-manufactured clone of the MXL 990 with poorer quality control.

$155 + MCA-SP1 ($53) = $208
