disk usage 100% all the time?

FinestRyeBread

The disk usage is around 90-100% on idle? I just got this laptop from my sister. Its a toshiba p855 from a couple years back. Possible it needs a new drive?

It's more than likely something that actually is using that disk...  be it a virus or a Windows setting (I've had to deal with that, but don't remember what for Win 7, something in registry to solve crippling performance.)  While a SSD is always helpful, you are probably fine and just want to investigate that issue.

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

There's a difference between the disk being used 100% and the disk active time being 100%.

Disk active time can refer to the queue of stuff it needs to do. If this queue fills up, then it means that your drive is not fufilling requets to the operating system, which is a common sign of the drive failing.

If it's a HDD (you didn't specify if it was a HDD or an SSD) then you can run a surface test on the drive in a different machine to check for failing or dead sectors. If a disk is beginning to build up dead sectors then it's a good idea to replace ASAP.
