My Hometown.

spwath

Just thought I would share things about my hometown.

Xerox was started here.

Kodak was started here.

And now with them both not doing so well, many people are being layed off. I just saw a musical in Kodack, the theater used for presentations is now used for performing arts. That entire building was empty. Empty caffeteria, empty everything.

Its the home of the eastman school of music, a big music school, started by George Eastman.

It is where Susan B Anthony died, and was a big part of the underground railroad, and now we have a bridge called the "Fredrick Douglass Susan B Anthony Bridge"

It is the home of what was Frozencpu.

It was the only location on the east of the US to service the 20th Aniversery Mac.

Yeah, thats it.

Just thought I would share.

Kodak, Xerox and FrozenCPU?

Remind me to never start a business in your hometown.

I was also crossing my fingers for a thread about either Bruce Springsteen to Adele, so I'll be leaving a bit dissapointed.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

Here's some stuff about my home town:

It was an important centre in the medieval period, as the site of <town name> Abbey

Began life as a Saxon settlement (6th Century)

Oscar Wilde was imprisoned there.

By 1525, *** was the largest town in Berkshire, and tax returns show that *** was the 10th largest town in England.

Just that should be enough to find out where it is.

My home town:

It was important before the Roman Empire.

Home town of some famous Italian poets such as Sandro Penna.

Home town of a few famous painters, such as Bernardino di Betto aka Pinturicchio.

Perugina (most famous Italian chocolate factory) started here, and was then bought by Nestle.

That's pretty much it.

Yes.

Kind of a weird mixture of new and old now. Ruins of Reading Abbey from 1121 aren't far from a skyscraper.

That looks really cool.... Man I wish we had more interesting architecture here.

That building is very new. A lot of the town is very old, with a few modern bits around:
