PC runs like shit?!

Hello everybody!

First of all, sorry for my bad English. I'm from the Netherlands and English isn't one of the things i'm good at... :/

I'm having a problem with my custom built PC. Last week the fan of my PSU started spinning like crazy.. and now i can't game with more than 24 FPS! Not even in Minecraft! I think it has something to do with my cheap PSU that has worked for the past 2 years.. but now stopped working properly. So, before buying a new 130 euro PSU... i want to be sure the PSU is the problem. I also would like to hear from you guys, what do you recommend for a new PSU? I was looking at the RM750 from corsair. It's a bit overkill.. but i want to upgrade my PC pretty soon and that include's 2 GTX 970's :)

I hope you guys, can help me out.

Specs:

i5-3470 CPU

Coolermaster hyper 212

AsRock Extreme 4

8GB Corsair vengeance LP ddr3

GTX 760

MS-Tech 950watt

1TB wd green.

CoolerMaster CM690 ii advanced.

This might become my PC after the upgrade's:

i7-5930K

H100i GTX

MSI X99A Gaming 7

16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX ddr4-3200

MSI GTX 970 x2 in sli

Corsair RM750

1TB WD green

Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD

Corsair Air 540

And since i'm here... What do you think about this upgrade? Is it okay? Or would you change something?

I hope someone can help me!

Once again sorry for my English!

Thanks a lot!

- I'd change the 970 SLI to a single GTX 980 Ti. It'll be pretty much as powerful without all the bugs and issues involved with SLI.

- CPU should be a 5820K: the only difference between it and the 5930K is 12 PCIE lanes, and so you only need the 5820K if you're using tons of PCIE devices, like  4 way SLI or - - something.

- I think a Seagate Barracuda would be better here than a Green, it's a faster drive and is usually pretty cheap.

- That PSU is a bit meh, I'd change it to a 750W XFX XTR, EVGA G2 or anything from Seasonic (or, if you choose the 980Ti like I said you only need 650W)

English is fine, btw :)

Please explain? Why does the fact it's an NVIDIA card have anything to do with his performance issues?

Is this some attempt of fanboyism? You're saying that all NVIDIA cards are slow?

Come on.

Doesn't mean all NVIDIA cards are terrible and are the cause of issues in a computer.

I would get Skylake instead.

As there is really no need for so many cores on your CPU at this current moment.

Also i recommend getting a gold or even higher PSU if you are using SLI.

More power usage demands more efficiency, if not your power bills gonna be ugly.

That might be a pretty good idea actually.. :D (both te 980ti and the 5820k)

The HDD is because i've already have the WD Green.

Right now i got my eyes on the seasonic x-650. How about that?

Great PSU, Seasonic arguably makes some of the if not the best PSUs out there.

Solid option, since that it operates fanless under 20% usage.

Also the wattage is good :D.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've never seen this happen before. As has been said before, usually a defective PSU means that the machine doesn't boot, so I don't know what the issue is. What are your temperatures, both at idle and in-game?

Well i don't think the cause of the problem was the PSU.

However, if you are having expensive components in your build then it would be better to take care of them.

Gettings a better PSU prevents dirty wall power from entering your system.

(Luke got showed that really harshly)

I normally take care of all my stuff, but when i bought my pc parts 2 years ago, i didn't know shit about the components i bought xD.

I know better know, and the PSU is the first thing i'll buy when i'm going to buy a new pc! :)

So... I've just downloaded CPUID HWmonitor.. and my cpu is about 80°while idleing.. and in game about 105°!!! My PSU is still spinning as a crazy f@ck3r... So.. now I'm thinking about buying a new PSU and a H100i GTX since that was already part of the ''upgrade''... I'm hoping that will solve it.. any idea's?
