PS4 or Xbox One?

VagabondWraith

Okay, so originally, I had a PS4. Then I decided that I needed something greater by joining the #pcmasterrace community. I had to sell my PS4 (plus games) in order to transition to PC. All along I knew I would eventually buy another console whenever I don't feel like sitting at my desk... but the biggest reason I'm looking to pick up a console is for sports games. I MISS MADDEN FOOTBALL. :( :(  Why EA can't you make it for PC!?!!???!?!?!?

Anyway, I already had a PS4. I had a 360 and liked it very much. I even use an X1 controller for PC on select games. I slightly prefer the X1 controller as it just feels more natural in my hands.

So my question is, which one? And please don't tell me "get PS4!!! it has 1080p and X1 only has 900p!!!" I know, I get that. That's a BIG reason I moved away to begin with. If I want the best experience it will be on PC, period. But for sports games and exclusive titles, I'm leaning towards the X1 this time around but I want your guys' input and see what ya'll think.

Xbox One has a fantastic deal on Amazon right now: 1TB console, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Rare Replay and Ori and the Blind Forest for $349 dollars. I didn't find anything near that on PS4.

And for those who own X1, how is it? Tell me about it. Thanks!

I personally prefer the Xbox One, it may be do to the fact that it's made by Microsoft and goes well with my Windows PC's and Server, but it also continues to the UI (with the MSX Xbox One update its awesome) the great features and backwards compatibility is an all around win. It also makes for a much better media center system as well.

Also the controller is 1000 times better, the PS4 controller feels like I'm holding two empty rolls of toilet paper.

Even if you get a 500GB PS4, it does officially support upgrades, so you could easily put a high capacity HDD (or SSD if you have the money now or later) into it later on.

The XB1 supports an external USB harddrive.

All hail the Xbox One.

I like the OS on it more than the PS4's and it's just better in most non-hardware ways than the PS4.

Hopefully DX12 games do the XB1 good with the resent OS update.

I have a feeling there's gonna be some benefit but the APIs on both consoles are already pretty low-level.

Dumpster level, even though I play consoles :P

Good point, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The XB1 supports an external USB harddrive.

So does the PS4-plus it supports easy HDD upgrades.

The API on consoles has always been pretty low level since they don't have the constraints of a PC.

Do you like weird Japanese games? Buy a PS4. No? Buy an Xbone. It's that simple.

COD is a weird Japanese game?

I don't mind, from experience the Xbox One stays cooler and quieter than the PS4 and I believe it has to do with the Xbox One's super spacious and well cooled interior.

Like I said, the XB1 has a far superior cooling solution to the PS4, if the PS4 is even slightly blocked the fans will spin up and that thing will become louder than most TV's. However after hours upon hours of an XB1 gaming in a similar situation it remains cooler and quieter.

Can PC and X1 work together in streaming content? I assume so but one thing I really liked about the X1 is the media entertainment it has built in. From what I understand, you can hook your cable box to the console and it passes through right? I like that aspect.

I must ask another thing... the newer X1 controllers have a mic jack on them. Can I watch bluray movies at night and have the audio pass through the controller to my earbuds? I know the PS4 had this feature, just wondering.

One more, how is Xbox Live? I never used it so I could use some input. Thank you. :)

So I assume the media features of X1 is greater than PS4? Because that's also important for me, aside from gaming. Is it good with Netflix and Amazon and all that? Thanks.

Yes. The only real edge the PS4 has over the Xone in media apps is Spotify.

It just shows Sony's brilliance in designing hardware. ;)

Really though, I have plenty of space for a power brick. :)

1.) You can stream media directly to the XB1 and you can stream gameplay directly to a PC. Also in upcoming titles XB1 and PC players will be able to play together and Microsoft has even hinted at them making a kb/m for XB1. Also you can hook your cable box into your console and then say "Xbox go to channel _______".

2.) I believe that you can have the audio pass through the controller, I just got another controller and haven't tried this feature yet but I'll get back to you on it.

3.) Xbox Live is very reliable, much more than PSN- way more secure- however just like PSN it costs money, about $60 USD for 1 year of online interaction but you can still use stuff like Netflix and Youtube without Xbox Live.
