Windows 7 Re-installation KEY Question!

kels

So, I'm building a new PC this year, and I'd like to be able to use the same disk for Windows 7 that I did a few years ago with this current PC.

My question is; when I go through all of this and get to the part of putting the key in to activate windows, will it be able to be reused since I've already installed it on a current PC, or am I liable to have to get a new disk for Windows (which I really have no interest in doing.)

Thank you!

You won't need a new disk, but you will need a new product key.

How can I acquire a new one?

I think some people have gotten away with calling Microsoft support and saying something like their motherboard broke and that they had to reinstall windows and they need their OEM license to be re-activated. Not a guarantee though. Also, if you have a full key (not OEM license) you can use it again, it won't be tied to that (the old one) motherboard.

You can most likely reuse CDKEY. Just deactivate it on current machine.
