Riddle me this [Windows 10, New Mobo, Win 7]

CircaSurvive

I admit I've been lazy and haven't searched the forums for a solution or more information on this topic, but I've been reading around the internet and still haven't found a satisfactory answer.

So here's my scenario. I am currently running an AMD-based system with Windows 7 Home Premium (RETAIL copy). I have an Intel-based system (mobo and CPU) ready and waiting to be installed. I also have a Windows 10 upgrade ready to go on my current system.

Obviously I want to install the new hardware and end up with a system running Windows 10. So...how exactly would I go about doing that?

I want to do a clean install, but I'd like to avoid having to upgrade my hardware, install Win 7, upgrade to 10, then do a clean install. Can I just clean install straight onto the new hardware? How would I activate it? I read recently that you can now use your Win 7 product key and it will activate. But will it be consumed and rendered unusable in the process? The whole Windows 10 release has been a huge mess, it seems.

I'd appreciate any info you guys could give (or a redirect to a thread where all of this has been discussed, if it exists). Thanks!

Replace hardware, -------- if it does work reinstall windows 7 then update to 10

If it does work, Thumbs up and away you go!

I would like to say, build the new system slap the old HDD in do a clean upgrade to 10 and that's that. Only it probably won't work because of drivers etc. Also I'm reading on google that in the near future you can do a windows 10 install with windows 7 key, in the present you can't. So make the new system reinstall windows 7 and upgrade to 10. You can circumvent the updates by downloading the upgrade to windows 10 manually.

With build 10586 you can just use your Windows 7 key during the Windows 10 installation, just build the new system and make a Win10 boot USB and find your Win7 key to use during the installation. It should work just fine.
