Skylake Build ($1000)

Hey there everyone!
So over the past couple months I've become decently active on the forum. After having a pretty freaking scary power supply failure in September I quickly sprang to the forum to get some much needed help, I had an alright baseline knowledge of computers and how they worked, but I definitely needed to get a better understanding of what I was working with haha. After receiving some absolutely stellar help and advice I decided to put together a list for a build that I think will be able to tackle everything that I need, and that will be FAR better than what I currently run with a lot of room for upgrades. I'd be using it for a variety of things such as gaming, 3D modeling, drawing, and some folding.
I'm all for any changes to the list you guys think would be necessary, but please try to stick to a white/grey/black theme. And the budget is roughly $1000. Don't want to go too expensive.
Money is hard to come by for me so I hope to be slowly purchasing the parts over the next year. Thanks!  :D

That's definitely a better build overall. But is going for the 4790k a more worthwhile prospect than the future upgrade-ability on the skylake platform? I don't know at all which is why I ask.

By the time i7-4790k is going to become obsolete, so would the 6600k so I guess it's all the same from that point of view, of course next gen of intel CPUs also is going to support Z170 but still, I doubt it's worth getting the 6600k right now. You get a worse CPU for more overall (motherboard+RAM cost)

Makes sense.

I'll see about getting the parts you picked out then. Or at least most of them, I'll probably end up changing some of the components depending on pricing at the time.

Appreciate the help by the way!

I use Zbrush for my modeling which is heavily CPU dependent. The GPU is mainly for gaming. Maybe if I get into something like Blender Cycles the GPU will come more into play, but at the moment it isn't the most important part in that aspect of what I do. I appreciate the reply though!
