The best rugged phone

fisch1l

So we've all done it. Dropped our phone, cracked it, etc. Especially if you are looking for an adventure in the great outdoors, you may have broken a phone or two. Yes, I'm talking galaxy s6 active tough. And tougher. Cases are great too, they just don't always get the job done.

So what are the best tough phones out there?

I'll start.

I'd rather have a case on a nice looking phone rather than to have a brick of a phone.

S6 active is probably the best rugged smartphone without: being hard to use, having bad performance /features, making you look stupid in public and being super expensive.

The new iPhone 6s is 7000 series aluminium.  Its unbelievably strong.  Drop tests on youtube showed with no case it survived head height drops with no damage from every angle except face down.  Also various testers have shown placing it in water for 30mins with no case with no issues (don't try it but nice to know its somewhat resistant without a case).

Then put the iPhone 6s in this :

Griffin Survivor Summit Case

Military spec  dust, sand ,rain proof IP-55, 10 foot drop protected

The phone is suspended in a shock absorbing rubber with a polycarbonate shell on the outside.

It also comes with a belt clip which you can clip to the front to cover the phone screen side.  Meaning you can just throw the phone in a bag and know it will be find.

I have had this case for two weeks thinking I would use it for mountain biking and hiking and use a non tough case day to day.  But actually I have kept it on and will be using it as my dad to day case as well.  I did a call test to see if the other person could tell the difference between the griffin summit case on and case off and they couldn't ( I also bought and returned the griffin all terrain which they could definitely tell the difference as it muffled speakerphone calls).  The case is actually very slim compared to the old survivor all terrain case and the screen protector is great and doesn't diffuse the screen as the griffin all terrain did.

Yeah I heard apple actually purposefully made the phone water resistant. Word on the street is they may even go for waterproof next time around.
