ASUS launches "the fastest GTX 980 Ti on the planet"

eLucid

It's quite ugly.

Most Asus ROG or Asus "____ Edition" products are.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P
If it's not broken, take it apart and fix it.

It's quite ugly.

I think it looks kinda nice.

Atleast it goes with their motherboards, and is gold rathar than copper like msi's "gold" 980ti

Isn't a little late in the game to be releasing a high-end 900-series card? I mean Pascal is just around the corner? Personally, I'm saving my money for Pascal and Arctic Islands. I really think the performance gain is going to be greatest we've had in years: Gaming in 4K and VR won't be difficult anymore for a much greater sample of people.

I don't think we'll be seeing high end pascal until Q3/4 2016.

I won't claim to know things that I don't, but I thought the rumors were pointing to 1H of 2016?

EDIT: If I remember correctly, I remember the reports (rumors) saying that it was already taped out in June? I'll try to collect sources, but I will say now that we can't know these things. And honestly, I'm waiting for Pascal and Arctic Islands no matter what. This just seems like a waste of time for ASUS.

I look forward to the day Auto-extreme is used for motherboards as well.  Just have someone to test each board, make sure it works, stress tests, and then ship 'em out.  As for the card - I like how it looks, but it's probably pricey as all hell.

I concur; I'm all game for automation taking over the entire industry. Quality will go up; Prices will go down. Yeah, people will lose their jobs, but I think it's best for the industry.

The sooner the better as well.  Prices going down and quality assurance rising is the best thing we could get.  Especially if man power can instead be diverted to ensuring quality-testing of products before they leave the factory.

*cough* HoF WC *cough*

The watercooled hof card doesn't have jack on the kingpin, there's only one competitor to the kingpin right now, that limited edition galaxy hof Ln2 card, and it barely keeps up.

Very nice, although I'm not a great fan of the gold (but I don't particularly care either) and the price tag that will inevitably be attached to it ^^

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

The proof is in the OC'ing.

This card will have to consistently beat its competitors high end cards, like the EVGA Kingpin, & Classified, MSI Lighting, Galaxy HOF, etc.

If it cant, then its just another shiny 980ti.

To be honest, I find its kinda odd that these companies put so much effort into the cooler design on cards they really intend for people to water cool or extreme cool to achieve high OC's. The Classified, the Kingping, the Lighting etc, all have a hefty price tag and part of it is the cooler, which is usually removed rather quickly by the those who buy said card for its intended purpose.

Try £719 which equates to roughly $1080 (USD) and $1447 (Canadian). Seems like one hell of a ripoff considering your alternatives.

Dat clean PCB! Can't wait for even simpler cards manufactured this way, especially with an HBM based GPU package. Holy small clean PCB.

Maybe Asus should use this on their mobos too.
