Toddler's eyeball sliced in half by drone propeller

PCBjon

Ok I know this isn't really tech related but since it contains drones/UAVs etc and its becoming an ever increasing hobby I thought it was worth a post here.

Mr Evans said: "It was up for about 60 seconds. As I brought it back down to land it just clipped the tree and span round.

"The next thing I know I've just heard my friend shriek and say 'Oh God no' and I turned around and just saw blood and his baby on the floor crying."

I feel bad for both parties here it really was a freak accident and a child's eye took the blow from it. |A guideline was in place why do people not follow the rules?

Guidance for safe drone flying
  • Before each flight, check drone for damage and make sure all components are working in accordance with the user manual
  • The drone must be within the operator's sight at all times
  • The operator is responsible for avoiding collisions with other people or objects
  • The drone must not be flown in any way which could endanger people or property
  • It is illegal to fly drones over congested areas such as streets, towns or cities
  • Stay well clear of airports and airfields
  • Do not fly drones within 50m of a person, vehicle, building or structure, or overhead groups of people at any height

We need to ban all drones this minute! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!

You know what's easier than buying and building a brand new PC? Petty larceny!
If you're worried about getting caught, here's a trick: Only steal one part at a time. Plenty of people will call the cops because somebody stole their computer -- nobody calls the cops because they're "pretty sure the dirty-bathrobe guy from next door jacked my heat sink."

Slightly overreacting I think.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Freak accident, it sucks but it's not really news as far as I'm concerned. even if you were 50 meters away from anyone (which is kinda dumb, are you supposed to go to the north pole to fly them?) if it crashes or you lose control, it may very well hit someone 51 meters away.

True.  We can't forget that, and we can't forget they use them ineffectively either.

They'd be more effective with multiple sniper rifles attached. Less likely to cause collateral damage, and more likely to scare the piss out of the enemy.

Or combine the two, for when they realize what's happening and try to hide.

That would be actually pretty good plan for a quad drone with 4 propellers for maximum stability but not for a predator drone kek

They deserve it, they're brown people. /s

Or just ensure every missile has an ample supply of napalm once it hits the targeted location.  Most targets would be dead on explosion, and incinerated in the aftermath.  Tango down.  *Nod*

Clearly drones are to blame here, and not human stupidity. Ban drones! [/sarcasm]

That's the joke. Joke about blaming every new thing ever (like drones, games, new tech etc.) instead of user errors.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

WTF? Ok... let's airstrike all the brown people!

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P

Of course. Why should we go through the effort of doing something crazy like educating people on drone safety when we can just ban them and be done with the whole thing.

Just like vidya gaems and rock music, or Harry Potter books.  Ban 'em all!  They're corrupting and hurting our children.  THINK OF THE KIDDIES.  I still don't understand how Harry Potter was going to be banned and yet Fifty Shades of Grey and the Gor - Novel series was never touched on for the content within.  "Magic, friendship, and good overcoming evil?" BURN IT.  "Terrible writing and sexual dungeons as well as the content of Gor?"  Instant classic!

When it comes to drone safety, we simply cannot turn a blind eye to it. It would be childish.
