Difference between 900p and 1080p?

Seireitou

Hello, I currently own a MSI GTX 960 and a old samsung 1600 x 900 monitor. My questions is how much of an fps difference do I gain since I'm not even gaming at 1080p and how bad/blurry will the image be because its not 1080p? Is there a big difference in either?

Thank you in advance :)

Honestly the difference in FPS is probably not all that much better at 900. 1080p adds some sharpness but again it wont be that much because the resolution of the game will reflect the monitors rate. The big difference is between 1080 and 4k. You should get SOME better performance but not to noticeable from my experience.

That being said no one can tell what you will get but you. Your full system could add or subtract from the overall way the game runs.

The crispness of the image depends on both the pixel count and the screen size. A 46" 1080p tv will be a lot less crisp than a 480p phone viewed from the same distance. It may be possible for you to use the nvidia control panel to force your monitor to run at 1080p (only virtually, you won't magically get more resolution) and you can decide for yourself if the framerate hit is tolerable.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Calculate the total pixel difference of those and calculate the percentage.

That's cool an all but how will that translate into real world results. Such as how clear and sharp it will be between the too and the fps difference. I was looking for someone that had actual experience in the topic.

EDIT: I posted this and had two replies lol. Thanks that explains a lot. It's a 21.5 inch.

well a 1050p to a 1080p monitor affected my fps on all games less than 5 fps (but the 2 resolution is so close that it is basically margin of error...)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

the game will resize itself to the size of screen. For me personally i saw very little image quality difference between 900 and 1080. Bad wording i believe lol.

So theoretically speaking, I should be able to get 60 fps in every single game out there? Because this GTX 960 can play bf4 MAX settings at 59-68fps @1080p and lets say Max FO4 at 50-60fps @1080p. So just tossing this out... (Even though FO4 is more cpu related anyway...how does that even happen?)

I doubt that you need to worry about fps on 1080p on a GTX 960.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.

>.< I just bought a cheap monitor for the time being for like 30 bucks. I'll upgrade in a few months to a nice 1080p screen but thanks for the insight. On another note, I was a console peasant so I wont notice a bunch of difference except gaming on 60 fps finally!!!! hahahahah

I can tell you from my own experience, that the difference between fps on a 1440x900 & 1920x1080 monitor is NOT that big... I mean seriously, it's like 5fps at worst times

Hmmm, in that case I should get a cheap 1080p monitor soon in the coming months, perhaps for christmas. The best time would be now while they have cheap $70 dollars ones going around but I need to get the rest of my system.... so not really gonna work. I thought I would be getting at least 10 more fps >.> Sucks and going to 1080p will get me a lot more on screen. I'll be upgrading that first once my system is built then.

Thanks
