GPU Not supporting 3 displays?

Digital

I have two main displays, one Samsung and one HP. Both are connected via DVI to my ASUS HD 7850 GPU. Now when I plugged in an external TV with HDMI cable, it turned off my Samsung display. I managed to get it back online but then my HP display was shut down. Does my GPU only support 2 active displays or what is going on?

Is there also a way to automatically disable the TV from displays list when I turn it off?

With eyefinity some aftermarket ones only support 2.

I guess there's no way to go around it?

Pretty sure to get three monitors you'll need to have at most 2 of them connected via DVI/HDMI.  The third one has to be running off of the displayport port, either natively with a DP cable or with an adapter.

This is correct, but it should be noted that using a simple DisplayPort to DVI/HDMI cable still counts as using DVI/HDMI and won't work. You would need a more expensive DispayPort signal converter, not just a simple adapter cable.

VGA would also work fine (with a DVI-I to VGA adapter). You just can't have more than 2 displays via DVI/HDMI.
