Installing new gpu drivers - amd

Go to solution Solved by Speedbird,

This has probably been done to death, so it should make it easy to answer :=)

1. I am going to install new drivers on my 280x and was wondering; what is the best way to do it?

2. I've read about a program with the acronym "DD" something (there was 3 letters but I don't remember the third one), what does it do and what do you think about it?

Updating drivers is simple: go to http://support.amd.com/en-us/download and download what you need. Select your GPU series and your OS from the list and download the latest version.

The program you mean is DDU - Display Driver Uninstaller. This is designed to completely remove display drivers and all traces of them ever existing. Useful when changing GPU manufacturers, but not neccessary for the average driver update.

Edit:

DDU = Display Driver Uninstaller was the name of the program mentioned in the second question.

So when I am changing my driver from example 1.0 to 1.0.1 or something like that I don't need to uninstall my drivers?

I've heard that it causes problems with having 2 different driver versions..

It used to cause problems a few years ago, but GPU manufacturers have improved their installers since then to clean up any previous versions before installing the new one. I have been updating my drivers with GeForce Experience and haven't had any problems.

Update:

I had a lot of different folders with driver stuff so I just used DDU make sure I got it right.

I'll try what you said next time though.
