Canada is screwed too. I'm sorry but the NCIX black friday deals are garbage. You might get a decent deal on a drive or something, but the core components are still as ridiculously expensive as ever. The 970 is definitely not worth between $400-$500 now.

so yeah, you're wrong, because exchange rate is what makes the 980ti so expensive in canada, not nvidia making the price higher

 

the 980ti has a set MSRP in USD, and then the price in other countries depends on the exchange rate of USD to whatever currency that country uses

 

since the canadian dollar is only 0.75c US, of courses the price of the 980TI in canada will be 25% higher than the US, its only logical

 

the only actual increase in price is the $20 US which is not accounted for by the exchange rate

but $20 is barely anything compared to the actual price of over $500

yeah, import duties are pretty high here

many times when I order something internationally I need to pay additional $10-50 COD ("cost of delivery")

I didn't see anything about an official price cut, and it just so happened to be the week of Thanksgiving so it's very likely just a holiday sale. It might become an official cut layer but I don't think it is right now. (not that it matters since Xmas sale is going to keep the price low for a while)

if its that much then its probably because of the sales, and the PC part stores in the US putting lower prices

calculate it based on the regular price in canada vs the us and it will not be that much

That's just after a $20 MiR, otherwise standard price would be $75 USD difference which is still a pretty big difference.

Price isn't such a huge issue for me (except cases and power supplies) the main annoyance here is that you can't get MSI along with Asrock being difficult to get.

Edit: just adding that high case prices should really be shipping related as they're not made in the US. (Define R5 here is $50 more after conversion / tax and the 750W G2 is $40 more)
