New laptop charge, different voltage. Will it work?

shazaam

Hello, im buying a new charger for my new laptop (this one: http://www.emag.ro/laptop-2-in-1-lenovo-ideapad-yoga-500-14-cu-procesor-intelr-coretm-i5-6200u-2-30ghz-skylaketm-14-full-hd-ips-touch-screen-4gb-500gb-8gb-sshd-nvidia-geforce-920m-2gb-microsoft-windows-10-home-white-80r5003eri/pd/D16LVYBBM/?prod_CMP-39_667_6369 )

The charger says: 20V @ 3.25A. Will a charger with different specs work? 19V... giving 90W? will that charge faster?

amps affects the speed at which it charges so if its not greater it wont go faster given that if the voltage and amps are higher doesnt mean the battery can accept higher voltage or amperage if you plug in a charger with higher than rated on your battery you could damage it or blow up your battery I WOULD NOT recommend testing it UNLESS the laptop or battery can handle it .

So.. basically wrong specs can damage the battery. Just for the sake of it: will the laptop survive?

Not sure TBH since we don't know how far it can be pushed but you should always get the correct voltage for the charger, Amps can be higher the factory orginal since it will only use what is needed from the adapter.

if the connector is the same it will work just fine.
