Final Thoughts (Buying this weekend) - £1300 Gaming Build

Hello all,

So as it's Black Friday weekend I'm planning on buying my PC now to try and save myself some money.

Below is my planned build:

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£341.99 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  (£99.98 @ Novatech)
Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  (£110.87 @ More Computers)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (£101.94 @ Aria PC)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 390 8GB Nitro Video Card  (£298.77 @ PC World Business)
Case: NZXT S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case  (£54.72 @ CCL Computers)
Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  (£99.99 @ Amazon UK)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit)  (£30.00)
Other: NZXT Grid+ V2 (£30.00)
Other: NZXT Hue+ (£50.00)
Other: Silverstone White Cable Bundle (£17.38)
Total: £1305.63

Notes:

- If a 1TB SSD is significantly reduced in price, I will get that instead of the 500GB.

- I will be gaming at 1440p (not hugely competitive so this GPU will do just fine).

- The theme of the build is a Black/White one.

- The PSU is a large one for CF support in future.

What are your thoughts/suggestions/recommendations on my planned build?

Many thanks,

Cameron

Honestly, I'm not sure I need that kind of storage capacity - but I will keep it in mind certainly while I shop! :)

Build seems good, I currently am going to get the MSI R9 390 for my GPU but that is my choice. Also, I am a bit of a noob, how'd you get Windows 10 for only $30??

Buy Windows 7/8 on G2A.com and then upgrade with a clean install to Windows 10 :)

Yes it's legal and save.

Meh, I gotta buy everything on Amazon, well I am technically not buying it. It is a $1500ish present (including tax)

Definitely get the 390X cause it's only 20 pounds more than the 390 in the UK. And definitely get the 5820k cause it costs less than the 6700k and it's a better choice.

I'll paste what I just wrote in another thread:

"I'd still recommend the 5820k even if it was more expensive, a higher end platform (X99) with cool features such as quad-channel RAM and a CPU that's around a 4790k level in terms of single-core performance after you overclock it and is up to 30% more powerful overall with 2 cores / 4 threads more. You will also have an upgrade path cause Broadwell-E will be X99 and there are going to be 10 cored CPUs for this platform. Conclusion? Better for multitasking, enthusiast-grade platform and just as good for gaming, for actually less money right now. Will also last for a longer period of time and has an interesting upgrade path"
