Thinking of getting Aftermarket fans for this build update?

EternalSeeker

Hey guys, So I am thinking of getting some aftermarket fans, is it worth it?

I have a H440 case and I have a kraken x61 aio cooling a 5960x on a rampage board running hpc simulations and some gaming/editing. The gpu is a g1 gtx 970, so i am wondering which fan would actually give me good thermals?

Looking for fans (red led would be nice):

-3x120mm fans  for the front (intake)

-1x140mm fans for the rear (exhaust)

-2x140mm fans for the x61 kraken radiator

I would not get LED fans as they make little difference and you can barely see them I would get a LED strip. I know it doesn't really answer the question but it's the only advice I have xD

I have seen that led leave a nice hue to it in this case.

Thanks

Thanks

its kind of silly to have led fans in your case as there is no real front intake so theres no point (you wont see the led fans they are not powerful enough to light the system

Thinking of getting the linus edition fans for the radiators and then getting an led for the exhaust, unless there are pressure optimized led fans?

I know, I got a ncix close by, just wondering if led fans on the rad makes more sense?

honestly i don't think theirs any reason to use led fans especially the corsair one because its meant for airflow instaid of static pressure

Hello, funnily enough I've been planning the same thing. I got the Corsair H105 (water cooler instead), same case, same GPU. I have even been in contact with some well known people at corsair and here and thought I'd help you too.

So basically you want static pressure fans for the Water cooler and Airflow for the rest. I wouldn't suggest corsair fans unless your going for look's apart, as it's not an upgrade worth it's time/money. Something cool I came across is PWM fans (They have 4 pins + PWM, what allows full fan speed control via moba bios, without stalling them). The H440 fans currently run of a hub what makes every fan run at 100% (If the noise is the reason your upgrading that's why), plus the NZXT fans arn't the best anyway.

Here is my suggestion

Front 3: Noctua NF-S12A PWM (ugly but hidden, great noise/performance, one of the best fans ever made via airflow)

Back: Be Quiet! Silent Wings 2 140mm PWM or keep stock. (Ok but if you don't care about looks go with noctua)

Cooler: Noctua NF-A14 140mm 2000RPM PWM (Look great, can take off rubber brown bits and spray them any color)

And what you do is then connect them all to moba and then go to bios or moba software and you have full control of the fan speed and some models even allow a fan curve (eg. at 40'c fans go at 50% speed)

P.S You might want to get PWM splitters for them (connect front fans to one splitter to sync them as one) and make sure you got 3-4 4 pin slots.

Goodluck :P

Might add this later...

I will probably got with the noctua, but for the rear exhaust fan, they can be airflow fans right? so I can get led fans to kind of brighten it up? My kraken has red led and the rampage as a red led accent so I was wondering if its a good idea?

You want everything to be airflow, apart from the water-cooling fans (static). I wouldn't suggest LED fans as they get annoying and degrade performance (gets hot). If you want lights, get some Led strips for your case...

Cool, the sound never bothered me, only looking for fans that give me a thermal performance boost. I will definitely go for noctua for the rad, but why are the 120mm fans for expensive???

Well those Noctua airflow fans are one of the most popular in the world, hence why it's so popular.

Ah makes sense,I just bought the Linus edition fans from NCIX here for the Kraken X61. Blade design is amazing, I have dealt with turbine blades so I could tell. They were out of other fans, I might just buy them for the case later like when I upgrade to two gpu. Right now the base fans keeps the gpu and case at about 30c.

Hey so a seller at NCIX said having noctua as an exhaust fan really isnt needed, he suggested that using noctua as intake is fine but for exhaust a corsair or stock is fine?
