Best price to performance 240/250GB SSD

Frenzyy

Since it's Black Friday offers time I thought that it may be worthwhile to finally get an SSD. The only problem is, I'm not sure which one to get since it's going to be my first one. (Yeah I know, quite late into the party but I never really needed one so you know.)

What I'm looking for? Just like the topic title- best price to performance 240/250GB SSD. I don't really need more storage than that, at least for now so +/- 250GB should be enough. Also, I'd like the highest, consistent reading speeds, as well as it has to be reliable/long- lasting. (I hope I'm not asking for too much? :P)

Just to let you know what I was looking at currently:

Thanks in advance.

10/10 would Kingston SSDNow again...

Don't get that one. Everything else is pretty OK. The Samsung and HyperX drives are the top tier ones in that list.

Intel Core i7-6700K | Corsair H105 | Asus Z170I PRO GAMING | G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB | 950 PRO 512GB M.2

Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB STRIX OC | BitFenix Prodigy (Black/Red) | XFX PRO Black Edition 850W

I assume the SanDisk is so cheap cos it's so sh*t hmm..?

What about this one- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-MX200-250GB-Internal-Adapter/dp/B00RQA6DTE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448584667&sr=8-1&keywords=crucial+mx200+250gb in comparison to the Samsung/HyperX?

The SanDisk is actually pretty decent. That Crucial one is nice, as well. Have you looked at OCZ SSD' s, yet?

No not really since like I said I'm quite new to ssds so any help/tips is appreciated. :)

I am prepared to pay for something that is good, I just don't want to pay extra for something that is only really better in e.g. benchmarks and I won't really notice a difference in terms of real life usage. I hope that you know what I mean.

This will be your best bet: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0106AOB7G/?tag=pcpapi-20

Just as fast as the Samsung drive and at a much lower price.

That's the same one right: http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCZ-Toshiba-Trion-2-5-Inch-Solid/dp/B0106AOB7G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1448586221&sr=8-2&keywords=OCZ+100+Series+240GB ?

Btw. what benchmarks should I probably look at before actually making my final decision?

Thanks for the help! ;)

That will definitely be useful, thank you.

However, by looking at the charts it seems as if for me, crucial mx200 would be the best choice and right after it is the ocz you mentioned but when I take either of those two and compare them with the samsung they come out worse... Unless for some reason I'm reading it the wrong the way. :(

For example: http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-850-Evo-250GB-vs-Crucial-MX200-250GB/2977vs3196

Then go for the Samsung.

The OCZ may be just as fast on sequentials, but it's slower (90,000 vs 97,000 IOPS) on Random reads and MUCH slower (43,000 vs 88,000 IOPS) on random writes. In addition, the endurance rating on the OCZ is 60 TB written while the Samsung has a 75TB endurance rating.

The OCZ is still a good drive, but there are reasons why it's cheaper.

Look, all the drives are good from good companies, you won't have a problem with any one of them, but as it is right now the best ssds are made by intel, then Samsung and then the rest. Now you are paying a little bit of brand with those but you know they will be better.Yes you will get what you pay for.Personaly i bought 5 months ago a kingston one, that was the cheapest at that time, and except the lower speed that i can't even notice the only thing that i would change 7s the software. Conclusion:if you want so something cheap buy somethong cheap,if not buy something better than the cheap one...

Ok cool, thank you for that.

Btw. I have an old AsRock P67 Pro 3, will I have an issues when it comes to connecting the ssd? And also, do I need to buy any cables or is everything already supplied?

No cables come with the drives unless otherwise stated. No issues when connecting, just be sure to connect it to a sata 3 port so that you can have better speeds(watch/read tutorials and read manual if needed(in case you can't find it i mean)).

Edit: i will edit in a bit to give you links for the cables

Edit 2:no links but you need a sata3 cable and a power sata cable, hint they are different, the first one is for data and the second one is for power.

No, no I'm not that bad when it comes to computers. I built a couple already, I do a degree to do with technology/business so I know what SATA is. ;d No need for a manual lol But thank you for the concerns. I'll make sure to buy these two separately then.

I have just found a Black Friday offer on the SanDisk Ultra II 480GB and I was wondering whether you guys think it's worth getting, instead of the Samsung one (which is 250gb)
