My take on it?

If this actually happened (EA offering to pay for a positive review/endorsement from a celeb), they deserve it. Not to mention that the general consensus among gamers that didn't go full fanboy mode on Battlefront is that the game is, indeed, a piece of s#!t. A shiny, beautiful turd, but nevertheless a turd.

Cool I don't care what a celeb says about a game I will play it if it seems fun and is not broken

 

It's literally all looks. Have even heard people saying it's just a "reskinned Battlefied 4", which it most definitely isn't, else it would actually work and make sense.

The gunplay is more random than a random number generator, vehicles are pretty much broken, not to mention the fact that they wasted an immense opportunity to make a fantastic Star Wars game by making it online only with little to no storyline

There are 5 (or 4) DLC planned for it but there's no info (or chance) for story mode(s). Probably just more map packs, random laser dispensers and broken vehicles

It's weird how your argument has 2 companies that do reskin games (Ubisoft, Activision) and 1 that doesn't (Bethesda) it kind of messes with the effectiveness of your point, you should adress that - as it stands it's neither sarcasm nor truth.

There's supposed to be a 2-man squad system, yet in 15 or so games I've NEVER had a squadmate. In a 10 on 10 game.

You know how Red Shirts in Star Trek and Stormtroopers in Star Wars never hit anything? Accurate representation of every single weapon in the game, except the sniper.

The Speeder Bike is HORRENDOUS. The weapons on it are the least accurate in the game (that is impressively possible). The AT-ST is either utter crap or totally overpowered.

My take on it?

If this actually happened (EA offering to pay for a positive review/endorsement from a celeb), they deserve it. Not to mention that the general consensus among gamers that didn't go full fanboy mode on Battlefront is that the game is, indeed, a piece of s#!t. A shiny, beautiful turd, but nevertheless a turd.

This kind of paid endorsement happens all the time, especially in gaming. Ever since youtube started requiring people to say that a video is sponsored, that becomes blatantly clear. Next time EA releases a big game, listen for "sponsored by ea" in youtube videos, its suprisingly common.

The Speeder Bike is HORRENDOUS. The weapons on it are the least accurate in the game (that is impressively possible). The AT-ST is either utter crap or totally overpowered.

This kind of paid endorsement happens all the time, especially in gaming. Ever since youtube started requiring people to say that a video is sponsored, that becomes blatantly clear. Next time EA releases a big game, listen for "sponsored by ea" in youtube videos, its suprisingly common.

 

And that is exactly the problem. It's one thing for a company to provide a product to a reviewer which will be unbiased in reviewing it and another to give someone said product, a wad of cash in the exchange for a positive review/endorsement regardless of the quality of the product

I'd actually buy Black Ops III if I wanted a proper shooter with an actual single player campaign (two, actually)

I dare say I actually... almost enjoyed the campaign in Ghosts (only CoD I own past the first two, and that's just because it was $5 for a physical copy). For what it is, it was actually half decent, albeit quite the generic one. Actually considering spending the coin on the CoD franchise (if it's cheap enough and a physical copy, ofc)

Its better than what it was before. Seriously, prior to EA's take over of the license the last good Star Wars games we got were Kotor 2 and battlefront 2. I can't even recall any games releasing between them and when Disney got the brand. At least we are getting something now.
