Every Thanksgiving in the USA, the NFL has some football games every year. Families sit around the TV after eating a large meal and watch a fantastic game. Today, instead of surrounding the TV, you can also conveniently watch from any PC that is running Windows 10 through the NFL on Windows app.

Yahoo had a free streamed game earlier in the season, to promote their platform. Now Microsoft is doing the same to promote their platform. Seems like desperation from companies that have been left behind. Yahoo is Yahoo (Yawho?), and Microsoft's struggles on the app front are no secret.

Lel it's E3 all over again, Only thing missing is an Xbox 1

But, I want sports and TV stuff to come with my console. So, thanks Microsoft? Also, PS4 came out with "Playstation TV" a device that doesn't play games directly from it, but it does other entertainment stuff. It can stream games from a PS4 though.

 

I'm just saying, I don't understand why people were criticising sports and tv features in Xbox One. It's awesome.

Good on the NFL. This is similar to what they've been doing for the Super Bowl. The more people who have access to it the better. They're starting to realize that the classic cable/satellite services aren't peoples go to option anymore. With the change in demand from consumers, I wouldn't be surprised if in the next decade a vast majority of our 'tv' viewing habits will be VOD, Video over IP, etc.

 

There are also other reasons the NFL would want to do this. For those of you who aren't baseball fans, go look up "SportsNet LA". The LA Dodgers / MLB has an contract with Time Warner Cable, and every year there is controversy over what networks can air certain baseball games, it even resulted in Dish and DirecTV having blackouts of certain games  :( . I think the NFL wants to avoid these types of issues going into the future.

 

PS: Too bad the game was a blowout and sucked  :angry: .

You can play Vita games on the PS TV..... also it was an after thought, not a main focus during Pre-release of the Ps4. 

Also your missing the point about why people criticizing the xbox one, Its a Console, not a TV box, and Microsoft spent half there time on the E3 floor talking about TV and sports as if the Xbox 1 was designed for that. they barley said anything about gaming related features aside from the Kinect that 2% of the users gave any shits about.

I don't buy a Xbox for freaking Netflix or whatever, i buy it for playing games, if it can let me Stream shows, nice. but dont bloody advertise it as a Media box. 

Besides, most modern TVs can stream already so ...meh?

Just wait - Patriots vs Broncos will be a good close game...

 

It could be a good game. But I'd have loved to see it with Peyton Manning playing (well), and with the Patriots not falling apart due to injuries.

Oh im fully aware of the Software updates on the 360, i´ve seen them all and most of the new one are not to my liking, the second menu version was my favorite.

How does it relate to your original post? You criticised/joked about the TV and sports features. More features to a console is a good thing. It brings more value to the individual. That's why I thought people were foolish to criticise these features. It's like getting a small personal bag of Doritos and for some reason there was less air and more chips in the bag. Extra chips is great, you can eat more then but if you don't want to eat more chips you still payed the same price as the other bags that had less chips and so just don't eat the extra chips then or save them for later.

I would disagree with you about your idea that extra features of the XO are not meant to appeal to gamers. Gamers don't just game. We also watch movies, tv shows, sports, play sports, listen to music, and we have friends. We are so much more then just gamers. We are engineers, writers, musicians, technicians, athletes and so much more. We enjoy more the just games. To bring more value to gamers the introduce more features that aren't about games because people use their console for more then just games.

Gamers can listen to music on the nice stereo system connected to the TV, watch movies, after playing playing a video game a sports game that you wanted to watch might be on so they switch to the sports game.

I can't even think of one of my gamer friends that only games. They all love either sports, music, movies, tv shows and other things. Gamers are not just gamers. We don't just sit in our mom basement and play games. What other things do you like?

 

Now, of course there are gamers who don't care about the other features or wouldn't use them. It shouldn't bother them that the extra features are there. This is what confuses me. If they don't care about the other features, just don't use them. It doesn't effect them either way then. That's what I don't understand about the criticism of the newer features that Xbox One introduced to consoles. They gave gamers more then just TV and Sports as well.

 

Of course, console makers need to have a focus on games because that is what the main reason a console is for.

 

Things that the XO one can do that 360 can't. Using two apps at the same time(skype while gaming or watching a sports game, pull up stats of a game, do a lot using the snap view), HDMI pass through to control your tv channels using voice or a controller/xbox one remote and use the universal Xbox One Guide, speaking of control there is MUCH better voice control from what I hear from people who have the XO, there's a bluray player, record your game play without the need of a capture card (I think tv as well, not sure about that one), stream your game, of course the obvious games look better.

The 360 doesn't have the hardware for this stuff. Doesn't either have enough ram, horse power, or the right component for job.
