Intel Core i5-4690K - Overclock concerns!

Hello everyone!

This is my first post here, I've followed Linus on youtube for some time and thought I would make the leap over to the forums for some friendly advice.

I have build my first computer and decided to overlock the CPU.

I have managed to overclock the CPU from its 3.9Ghz to 4.4Ghz.

I have pushed all cores to 4.4Ghz and the power it needed to be stable is 1.31V. I hear if you go over 1.3V you can damage the CPU? In a full stress test back on variable voltage at 4.4Ghz with my coolermaster CPU cooler I only reach temps after a 4 hour stress test of 71 Degrees C.

Under full gaming load, "rust on high settings" I average about 50C temps on the CPU, should I take the overlock back some? I can manage 4.2 on all cores and drop the power down to around 1.24V. While none gaming the intel power step keeps it around 0.9V while browsing the net and watching videos.

My main question is based on this information, will the 1.31V drastically reduce the life on my CPU? Aslong as I get 2 years im happy, I know its a hard question but does my overlock sound okay to you guys?

Regards,

Bear

People are sometimes quite dramatic with voltages. There have been a lot of technology improvements is the last years, and now cpus are serious rocks built to last tons of years and you need to push them to unreasonable levels to kill them or to see meaningful degradation.

While your chip is not very good, the voltage is still safe, and temps are perfectly fine, quite below the limits recommended.

I also have an i5 4690k, and to get 4.4GHz I need 1.29v. But I've been having it for more than half a year at 4.5GHz, 1.36v with max temps about 85ºC and 70-75 while gaming. Not a single problem.
