AMD Cuts All GPU Prices Including R9 Fury X, Fury And Nano – Down To As Low As $569, $499 And $549 Respectively

Down To $589, $569 After Rebate

 

This liquid cooled flagship AMD Radeon graphics card first debuted back in the summer and is the very first graphics card in the world to feature next generation stacked memory technology, HBM, replacing GDDR5.

Ever since the R9 Fury X launched AMD struggled to keep up with demand and the R9 Fury X was consistently in short supply. As a result many retailers began to add exorbitant premiums onto the card’s price tag, pushing it well over the $649 MSRP and up to 899 in some instances.

Thankfully however the blight of R9 fury X shortages came to an end and the graphics card has been widely available at its official $649 MSRP for sometime. But thanks to the most recent round of price cuts you can actually find it listed for as low as $569 at both Newegg & Amazon after a $20 mail-in rebate.

R9 Nano

The R9 Nano was a card that AMD succeeded in hiding inside its sleeve and keeping it well under wraps until its debut at E3 this year, prior to that there weren’t as much as whispers about the card. Nano allowed AMD to demonstrate one of the principal advantages of HBM and that’s how compact it allows modern cards to be. The Nano is the fastest graphics card on the market today for its size and is the most efficient iteration utilizing the Fiji GPU we’ve seen to date.

R9 Fury

Original MSRP : $549

Down To $499

 

The air cooled sibling of the Fury X, the Fury didn’t suffer as many shortages as its bigger brother. Featuring the same Fiji GPU and 4GB of stacked high bandwidth memory, the Fury put up a good fight when it debuted outperforming Nvidia’s GTX 980 across the board for a $50 premium. As of right now the R9 Fury is on average 15% faster than the GTX 980 at 1440p and 20% at 4K.

Yes, now the 980 really has a tough competitor. I was just thinking of buying a Fury, guess I'll wait till the price drop hits the EU (in like a month). Fury X is also really appealing now.

This is really good news, makes the Fury extremely competitive against nVidia cards (980/980 Ti).

Ah no, I ain't comparing them. I'm just surprised that design existed even for a 980 Ti card.

I don't think these are price cuts, so much as Black Friday sale prices...

I agree with this, as only power cooler slashed prices

 

I have rebates off, and the cheapest one I see is $614.99 w/ a promo code. (original is 629.99)

Then your either blind or have some build that is incompatible and didn't uncheck compatibility

OHHHHHHH SHIIIII. AMD is being aggressive...and I like it

Due to HBM supply issues they could not manufacture enough cards. So there was no point cutting price.

When you have limited supply it's better to at least sell those at decent margins and make some money.

If you do have enough supply then it's worth considering lower prices to generate high volume demand.

 

Even the market share which AMD has gained recently is in the performance-midrange non-HBM GPUs like the 380/390.

Not really. Let's be honest here: on equal performance per dollar grounds, AMD will always loose. There's just currently too much bias against AMD from reviewers, from the public in general, etc. The only chance they have at moving cards is undercutting: worst margins are better than warehouses of unsold products.

 

More over, margins are not everything they're highly dependant on your sales volumes: it's why publishers and devs make more money during steam sales and such than at normal retail price: a tiny margin on 100k units it's a lot better than a large margin on 10k units since well the profits are not linearly tied at the same rate your production and distribution and marketing costs are.
