Kind Of A Strange Question

Made In Canada

So as i recently got Fallout 4 for xbox one and i have not seen any screen tearing. Now keep in mind i have always been a console gamer and really have not seen this, but it may be do to 30fps only. Personally the game feels great but as i plan to buy this pc in about 30 hours or just sometime this Friday, i am having more and more worries about it.

Now that being said, onto the question which is: Does screen tearing occur often?

Now i know it depends alot on tye monitor, the gpu, and the game so here is an idea of what i am planning to do/ have.

Acer 1ms 144hz 1080p 24" monitor, 780TI, Fallout 4, Arma 3, Payday 2, Dark Souls, And more but just cannot recall them, as well as future titles.

I know it sounds weird but im asking do to my worries of spending $1300ish on a pc mainly for Fallout 4 when it seems fine of xbox.

Proof that you can keep it on the lowest setting. If you're just gonna play Fallout, $1300 is a little much unless you're gonna mod really heavily.

It depends what game I'm playing. The only game I've seen tearing for me yet is GTA V.

1. in the video, they said the game uses 2.9gb vram on 1080p ultra, i know the ultra-high-medium dont look too different but if i used a 780ti (3gb vram) 1080p ultra and wanted mods, im guessing this would not be possible, right?

2. how often does gta v tear?

Screen tearing with a 780ti will be non-existent in most modern games.

How about in the future?

Also (sorry for the extra question), do you know how the driver support of kevlar cards compared to maxwells is? As in would getting a 970 and losing up to 10fps or more be worth it?

You'll be fine going into the future for at least a few more years (like 2 years of high settings) and the kepler cards have pretty decent driver support and will continue to into the future.

So should i go for the beefy 780ti even though Fallout 4 uses 2.9gb vram, while i get better performance as well as same-ish driver support?

Also, how would the 970 compare to the 780ti in the same senario?

A 780ti will be more than enough for pretty much any modern triple a titles, and it will have pretty much the same driver support.

Also the 970 would still be beaten by the 780ti, the question is how much are you getting the 780ti for?

Im looking at $350-$400 on the 780ti with a little wiggle room (current one i want is $800) but there are some at $550 right now if they are still in stock (or unless they changed it).

The 970 right now is in the $450 average price so if i cant get a 780ti for my asking price, im going for the 970, if its still $350+ but the 960 4gb drops, i might go 960 4gb.

I have 2 GTX 960's in SLI and while I don't necessarily recommend it I can say that it performs like a boss.
