£500-£1000 PC setup

SirBobson

Hi,

My dad is interested in upgrading from his old laptop, which is pretty slow. He's thinking of a budget between £500-£1000 (I live in the UK) and wants it to last a while.

He'll mainly be using it for emails, web browsing and possibly a bit of basic video editing. The budget does include 1 monitor (something smaller than 23" as he finds my monitor too big), windows and probably around £60 for the yearly office subscription. Form factor isn't really an issue as the PC will be under his desk and he does want an optical drive.

All help is appreciated and sorry if I left anything out :P

Thanks

SirBobson

grab a intel NUC or gigabyte brix, and pretty much any 1080p 21.5-22" monitor, and stick the computer to the back of the computer.

Intel i5-6600K@4.2GHz, 16GB Crucial DDR4-2133, Gigabyte Z170X-UD3, Be quiet shadow rock slim, Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ OC, Fractal design Integra M 550W, NZXT S340, Sandisk X110 128GB, WD black 750GB, Seagate momentus 160GB, HGST 160GB

he uses his pc for work (photoshop and lightroom) and it works great, would recommend this any day of the week over anything pre built like a nuc.

edit: i just saw he wants an optical drive, lemme change things up

edit 2: fixed :)

edit 3: the monitor is 21.5" because that's the smallest 1080p monitor :)

no. those things are too expensive for what they do.

they aren't that overpriced as intel CPUs with iris pro are expensive.
