1xfan config vs totally passive

cisto1999

I want want a totally silent system.

would you go with a system (e.g. Fractal R5 with passive or semipasive PSU, i3, noctua nh-d15) with just one CPU-Fan or totally passive (streacom-chassis, itx-board)?

It should not just be near silence but it should be totally silent.

(I know that there somethimes can be some "electrical" noise...)

I would get a silencio 550, semi-passive psu and a big-ass cpu cooler (nh-d15 is a good one).

Yes you want silent, but 100% passive is not worth it.

You might want to get rid of the case fans, but leave at least 1 fan on the cpu cooler and have one in the psu.

If the cpu is in trouble for whatever reason, it can at least try to help itself with the fan.

@samcool55: Thank you.

No other opinions?

What wattage is the CPU? For <60 watts I recomend the FX-70 from Zalman.

As for the PSU you can use a Seasonic Platinum Fanless 400 watts.

What do you like to use a GPU?

Also keep in minde that the HDD will make a lot of noice so you may like to go SSD only.

Mineral oil and 40 kg aluminium heat sinks are a perfect combination: 73 cores and a Titan X, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Oil

Do you even consider putting a GPU in?
