Unknown USB Device (HyperX Cloud 2)

Hi,

I need help on what to do with my headset.

I have a HyperX Cloud 2 Gaming headset, and it's connected via USB.

My headset was working perfectly fine for the entire time that I've had this computer, but earlier today I just got a small notification saying "USB Device Not Recognized".

When I go into my device manager, I used to get "HyperX Audio 7.1" under the "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" tab.

Now, it is under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" tab labelled as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"

I tried to google my problem, and someone was getting to a conclusion, however they just repackaged their device and sent it back to the Manufacturer.

Someone wanted to get the list of

(Device Manager > Right Click Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) > Details > Hardware ids: USB\DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE

I've already tried rebooting my computer, and testing to check if the headset worked on other computers, and it did.

So basically I'm stuck, and need to know what to do from here.

Thanks!

*EDIT* ALL DRIVERS ARE UPTO DATE

Uninstall them and try to reinstall them if it still doesn't work then try to send it back.

Yeah, still nothing. Just kind of weird because it was working fine earlier today, and still works fine on other systems. But will go to NCIX tomorrow. Thanks!

Right click on the device and got to Update device driver, then go to Browse from my computer and then pick from a list of drivers. Hopefully your headset is in that list. If it is, then select it and apply that driver to that hardware device. Hopefully it will be recognized again.

Okay I just want to let everyone know and for new people that come in search for help. I had the same issue as OP, I isolated the problem to the USB Control box. There is a design flaw with the inline soundcard that they decided to put in that box. I've spoken with many parts dealers and they have all confirmed that they get a lot of returns all based around the same flaw. If one day out of the blue windows hits you with " Device Descriptor Request Failed" don't bother searching for a fix because more than likely your USB box has failed (test this by plugging your headphones 3.5mm into something, they will work). I returned mine to the store and the tech just swapped out the part for a brand new one. DO NOT buy another USB control box, they are rather expensive and It's Kingstons fault not yours so they shouldn't profit off of the situation. The headset comes with a 2 year warranty so you can get in touch with them if you have no receipt or store warranty.

* EDIT: It's also important to mention the USB box placement means that with constant use (repetitive on and off motions) the box is subject to a lot of slamming into stuff. Make use of the clip that comes with it and clip it to your mouse pad, this hopefully will prevent the sound card from failing. I can't confirm that slightly knocking the box caused the failure but it doesn't hurt to be safe. Most likely case is the product came out of the factory flawed and will fail without any help from you.

I have a similar problem except that my headset does not shop up in playback or recording devices and it only appears under other device in the device manager. when i try to update drivers it says that the driver could not be found and there are no error messages at all my headset works with my phone but my pc simply wont reconize it and all instructions kingston has are very unhelpful
