Samsung NVMe 950 Pro on a X79 Mobo.

Hello guys

I wanted to check if the new Samsung 950 Pro drives are compatible with the x79 chipset architecture. The reason why I am confused about this is because of the Intel PCIe drives that seem to require a compatible motherboard. Are these 950 Pro's the same? Or would they just work on my X79 Sabertooth?

check if the latest BIOS support NVME

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Wanna donate one to me to see? I have an x79. I am curious about this as my brother needs an SSD and has an older z77 board.

Well I can state that M.2 drives work with z77 as I have one.

You just need an adapter card for it.

But I have doubts that anything older than z87 has support for NVMe.

Thank you all. Yes, it looks like Asus hasn't updated the BIOS since July last year so I doubt that this would be compatible as it is. Appreciate your help!

There is modded Bios to support  nvme in ASUS x79 boards

Here's latest bios file for this motherboard with the latest Intel EFI RAID ROM module 15.0.0.2606
It also contains all the other latest modules and CPU patch codes.

**MUST BE FLASHED USING BIOS FLASHBACK METHOD**

SABERTOOTH X79 - 4801

SABERX79.CAP

It works 100%

You have to install your windows "cmd disabled"

I did it with my old rampage iv....

have fun.....
