Can i always leave usb devices plugged into my computer?

logan

so i have things plugged into the back of my computer such as:

fit bit wireless thing

headphones USB jack thing

something else i cant remember

and i was wanting to connect my 360 controller into the back....so the cord is out of the way...and its hooked up...

is there any risk to leaving them plugged in?

It's better to leave it plugged in. Ports only have so many insertions and re-insertions. By leaving it plugged in, you're reducing the number of times you need to take it out and plug it in, allowing the port to last longer.

If you could damage your peripherals by leaving them plugged in, mine would be in tiny little pieces by now.

Having a ton of things plugged in all the time can lengthen boot times (BIOS has to recognize them all) but I think the advantages to just leaving them all in far outweigh the downsides: lasts longer, easier, more convenient, etc.

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
