err what are the uses of the laptop?

the i5 is a Braodwell CPU which are clocked lower to save power

but when it turbo boost

it will be faster than the i3 which have no Turbo boost

I'd go for the i3 one since it's got an dGPU

we still need to know the use case

IMO the GT820M is not great for gaming

i5 is roughly 60% more powerful than the i3.  i5 has HD Graphics 5500, i3 model has 820M discrete - neither is going to be a gaming powerhouse

i5, definitely

Go i3 then. The 820 is worth the tradeoff, especially when both are hyperthreaded dual cores

HD 5500 iGPU is rated from 50% to 100% faster than the 820M, but will still not play any major new titles at playable FPS.

Doh!  Update - that # is for raw graphics power, not actual game performance.

In games the HD 5500 has a slight edge, being slightly faster in more games than not.

Still tips the scales in favor of the i5, unless you can OC the 820M, which is arguably a waste of time, like trying to super charge a moped - it can be done, but if you want performance, buy a better laptop.

i am not worried about the gpu but more worried about cpu for example will i3 be fien with 10-15 tabs on chroem and while running ms office and some music in the background . main question is will it lag compare to i5.
