How does IP/URL filtering work?

How does IP/URL filtering work?

Can someone please help.

How does it work? It's really quite simple.

The Router handles traffic between devices on a network.

You tell the Router "Don't give a device access to any URL with <word> in it." That's it. That's all there is to it. Same thing with IPs. "Don't allow a device with <IP> to connect to the network." or "Only allow devices with <IPs> to connect to the network."
