Hi guys,

I plan to get a new rig with the following components:

Cpu: Intel i7-4790k

Cooler: Corsair H80i GT

Ram: 16gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400mhz

Mobo: MSI Krait z97 1150

Gpu: Galax HOF 980

Ssd: Hyperx Predator 240gb

Hdd: wd black 2tb or seagate sshd 2tb

Psu: Corsair hx850i

The question is if I can improve sth. without spending a lot more or if the parts a working fine together:)

Btw it would be fantastic to know if anybody has experiences with a similar setup:)

Thx

Tom

Get an Fury if you can support a 120mm rad. Also I don't think you need 850w of power. @Tomthedrum

My i5 6500 is bad and can't even maintain 4.5ghz, and 4.4ghz causes it to slowly become unstable over weeks with a vcore of 1.395. FML

I cant support a 120mm rad since I am building this pc in an old server case I was happy that I was able To get a single rad for my cpu in:)

Btw I want to do some OC and on a calc. I got 750w usage so I think I have to go with the 850:/

Wait there are air-cooled fury x s but you should just look into them.

2k Euros? I'll use de.pcpartpicker.com then, wait a little bit. Btw AMD is more than fine when it comes to GPUs, it actually offers better value for money with its current GPU lineup :)

So this is the best I can come up with using the (very poor) selection from de.pcpartpicker

(while you can afford a 980Ti within that budget, it's not worth it since the MSI Gaming one costs 140 Euro more than the R9 Fury)

Also, the site was very short on CPU coolers, so this is the best that's relatively cheap and should suffice. You can always get a more expensive one if you want some high overclocks

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

5820k is a better choice overall for around the same price, it's more powerful.

But why are there tons of benchmarks which say the 4790 is way better for gaming;)

5820k has the same (around 4% difference) single-cored performance after you overclock it as the overclocked 4790k, but you get 2 cores / 4 threads more with it, which means 46% faster when using all threads, and a better chipset (X99) with some cool stuff like quad-channel RAM etc :P Maybe the 5820k wasn't overclocked, cause it can overclock further (compared to their stock values) than 4790k

Totally forgot about OC :D Well, I have some bad experiences with the normal 2011  socket (wanted to get a new mobo, they were crazy expensive :/). Since I will be mounting my pc in a server case I cant fit  the Nocuta Cooler in there:/.  Nevertheless I think I will go with the Dom. Plat ram instead bc it looks cool and will go perfectly with the white board and the custom white sleeved cables. Do you know any white amd furys? =)

Please do not Corsair Platinum RAM, it's super expensive and not worth it at all, RAM speeds almost don't matter, RAM is RAM more or less, HyperX FURY RAM looks dope, is cheap and reliable, it also has lifetime warranty. Same goes for Corsair Vengeance LPX, I advise you to not waste money on unnecessary stuff :)

As for Furys, there aren't many models out there, XFX, Sapphire are some of the best ones, definitely don't get the ASUS Strix one.

The thing is that I am building a kinda black white themed build an just thiugt the silver of the dominator would look good :D Because of that it is really important to have a white gpu so I think I go with the 980 hof( Ik the amd one is better:D)

Well, that's up to you then, I like to have the most out of the money I spend personally ^^ Looks are a second thing to me, my PC isn't good looking at all, but it's the best bang for the buck I could possibly get here in Poland :P
